This past weekend, the Gliwice Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop took place, initiated by Dr. Adam Staroń and Dr. Jerzy Rybicki. The event was held at the Gliwice Rehabilitation Center X-Rehab and brought together experts from Poland, Europe, and the Gulf countries, with additional participants joining online.
The workshop opened on Friday with a cardiopulmonary session led by Prof. Krzysztof Smarż and Dr. Jerzy Zioło, focusing on the fundamentals of cardiopulmonary exercise testing and practical diagnostic training.
On Saturday, the program focused on the role of physical exercise and new perspectives in cardiac rehabilitation. Prof. Małgorzata Kurpesa highlighted the importance of ECG, Prof. Krzysztof Milewski addressed exercise-related cardiovascular events, and Prof. Christina M. Dieli-Conwright spoke about cardio-oncology rehabilitation. Zainab Adenwalla discussed the implementation of research findings into clinical practice, while Adré Rossouw presented on resistance training. Dr. Jerzy Rybicki and Dr. Adam Staroń led extended sessions dedicated to exercise testing, programming, and practical prescription of training.
Sunday was devoted to modern methods and practice. Wojciech Gąsior, MSc, presented on eccentric training, and Dr. Amal AlBatini addressed pulmonary rehabilitation. This was followed by training protocols presented by Dr. Jerzy Rybicki and Dr. Adam Staroń, and a hands-on practical part conducted by Dr. Agata Lis-Nowak and Dr. Monika Socha-Masztafiak, which concluded with lively discussion and a summary of the workshop.
The Gliwice Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop was an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange between specialists and opened new perspectives for clinical practice. It
